Vermicast & Compost Tea

Vermicast is "Gardener's Gold"
In partnership with the hens of Peterson's Upland Farm in Wahiawa, our worms produce high-quality castings (also called vermicompost or vermicast), rich in both soluable nutrients and microbial life. Feedstock from chicken manure assures a consistent product and clean, uniform texture.

Vermicast is a proven plant growth enhancer and has been shown to suppress certain diseases and pests. The UH College of Tropical Agriculture has analyzed our cast and reports that it contains a full range of key and trace elements, with especially high levels of nitrate – the form of nitrogen most readily absorbed by plants.

Use vermicast as close to roots as possible. It is excellent for starts and can be used up to 100% for germination. For leafy plants, mix 5%-20% with potting or topsoil; for fruits and flowers, 20%-30%.

Vermicast will:
• improve soil structure, aeration, and water retention
• contribute to soil fertility
• promote healthy root development
• increase organic content of the soil
• increase garden yield
• produce better-tasting fruits and vegetables
• produce healthier, more disease and pest resistant plants
