School Worm Programs 2011-2012

Worms are great educators! A worm bin is a wonderful addition to the classroom to teach biology, ecology and soil science as well as to help you meet school recycling goals.

Waikiki Worm Company pioneered worm education on Oahu in 2005. We are especially proud of those students whose success in managing worms has led to the installation of a commercial-scale Pipeline worm system on their campus. Expert young vermicomposters recycle literally tons of lunchroom food waste annually. The vermicast produced nourishes school gardens and kalo lo’i, or is used for science experiments and fundraising.

This year we are offering three exciting programs, all supported by the City & County’s School Recycling Project Grant and/or Kokua Hawaii Foundation’s Environmental Education Mini-Grant. For a detailed description and links to grant application forms, click below. Note early deadlines!!!!
